This is a rare surviving terracotta model by Jacopo Sansovino, one of the few artists to flourish in all three of the main capitals of Renaissance art: Florence, Rome, and Venice. The Charity served as a model for Andrea del Sarto's celebrated fresco cycle in the Chiostro dello Scalzo in Florence.
